What is LSAW pipes(Longitudinally Submerged Arc Welding Pipes)?
The raw material of single steel plates put into the mould to press into a tube blank, and then the tube blanks are produced by double-sided submerged arc welding and expanding diameter. The finished LSAW tubes have a wide range of specifications, good toughness of the weld seams, good plasticity, fine uniformity and better compactness, while the LSAW has the advantages of large pipe diameter, thick pipe wall, high pressure resistance, low temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
Application of LSAW pipes
LSAW pipes play a major role in oil and gas pipelines with features of high strength, high quality and long distance. According to the standard of American Petroleum Institute (API), the LSAW pipes are the only designated pipes in large scaled oil and gas transportation, especially when the pipelines cross the densely populated urban areas and the first and second class cities.
There are three making process for welded pipes:
UOE welded tubes: after pre-rolling of the single steel plate, and then it is formed from U to O forming, then internal welding, outside welding, the mechanical cold expansion and other processes.
JCOE welded pipes: the pipes made according to “J-C-O-E” pre-welding, forming, cold expansion and other processes;
HME welded pipes: formed by the "C-C-O" mandrel rolling method, and the process of cold expansion after welding.
